Biblical Studies Program Fall 2010
The Biblical Studies Center offers a great opportunity for Boise State University students to receive a full scholarship. Continuing education teachers, persons and others may take Bible courses for college credit at only $50.00 per credit hour. Those not interested in credit may audit classes for $50 per course.
Since 1971 our extension partnership with Oklahoma Christian University http://www.oc.edu/about has provided the transfer of academic credits to higher education institutions. However, each university has its own policies regarding transfer of credits.
Please confirm with appropriate personnel at the institution where you are seeking a degree that these credits are transferable and that they will fit into your degree program.

Instructors for Fall semester 2010
The Biblical Studies Center features Christian professors and instructors who are committed to excellence in Christian education. The courses are taught in a skillful, respectful, and nonsectarian way, appropriate, not only for BSU students but for teachers and leaders in Boise Churches for Continuing Education Training and for the spiritual development of anyone.
Benjamin Brandon, M.A. has a deep passion for the study of Western Civilization in general. Ben received his B.A. degree from BSU in International Relations and completed his M.A. thesis on Christian Political Philosophy (specifically on Constantine, the first Christian emperor of the Roman Empire). In addition to History, Benjamin has had the opportunity to study Philosophy, Latin, and Greek, all of which have contributed to a well-rounded understanding of Western Civilization. Benjamin will be teaching History of the Early Church for the Fall 2010 semester.
John Free, M.A., Ph.D. has been a licensed psychologist in California over 30 years. His BA in psychology and Biblical languages & MA in Religion is from Pepperdine University. Dr. Free was Director of a Learning Academy for special needs children and an elementary school principal for 12 years. His Ph.D. was obtained at Fuller Theological Seminary Graduate School of Psychology. Dr. Free will be teaching Marriage Development and Counseling for Ministers for the Fall 2010 semester.
Timothy Gordon, M.A., M.P.A., M.S. is a retired U.S. Navy Reserve Commander with 30 years of active and reserve military service. He has worked as a software engineer and report developer for Micron Technology and Flex Data Solutions for the last 17 years. Tim has been an adjunct instructor with the Amridge University, University of Phoenix, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and Oklahoma Christian University. He is currently working on his doctorate in Theology from South African Theological Seminary and has additional graduate training from Trinity Theological Seminary, Nova Southeastern University, Troy State University, Eastern New Mexico University, California State University, Hayward, and Old Dominion University. Tim will be teaching Science & Religion (The Scientific Christian) for the Fall 2010 semester.
Jeremy Graves, M.T.S. is currently the Missional Pastor at Crossroads Community Church in Nampa. Previously, he had been lead Pastor of the Marietta Vineyard Church into a partnering church with the city of Marietta and the community at large. Jeremy has a Biblical Studies Certificate from the Vineyard Leardership Institute and received his graduate training in Theological studies from Bakke Graduate University in Seattle, Washington. He is currently enrolled in their doctorate of ministry program and anticipates graduation in 2012. Jeremy will be teaching Prison Epistles and Urban Ministry in the Fall 2010 semester.
John Moreland, M.A. serves as executive director of The Biblical Studies Center. He received training in Biblical Studies, Greek, and Church History from Eastern New Mexico University and Harding Graduate School of Religion. He has taught at Biblical Studies Centers since 1965 at The University of Central Oklahoma, BSU in Boise and at the University of Memphis in Tennessee. He will be teaching Story of the Old Testment and Elementary Greek I for the Fall 2010 semester.
Bill Pubols, M.Div. is currently the campus minister for Campus Crusade for Christ/Athletes in Action at Boise State University. Previous to that he was the campus minister for Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of Oregon. Bill received his graduate training in ministry at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Bill will be teaching Evidences of Christianity (Apologetics) for the Fall 2010 semester.
Kevin Skidmore, M.A. is the minister at the Boise church of Christ and adjunct professor at BSU and Western Idaho College in communications. He previously was an instructor with seven different colleges and universities teaching communications, English, and sociology. He has also served as minister, counselor, campus minister, small group leader and has done public speaking on weekly radio programs. Kevin received his early training in speech communication and religion from Eastern New Mexico University and later earned his MA in Speech communication from ENMU. Kevin has done doctoral research in Communication at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Kevin will be teaching The Gospel of John for the Fall 2010 semester.

A study of the historical background and contents of Paul’s letters of Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Philemon. Emphasis is given to each epistle’s outstanding teachings and practical value.

BIBL 2202 Story of the Old Testament

Discussions from Genesis through Malachi in chronological order, tracing the story of man’s journey with God and of God’s interactions with individuals, families and nations including promises and prophecies, which lead to the journey as it continues in the story of the New Testament.

A study of the life and teachings of Jesus from the viewpoint of the Fourth Gospel. Comparison is made with the Synoptics (Matthew, Mark and Luke) in appropriate places. Particular emphasis is given to the historical setting at the time the Gospel was written and John’s Christology.

A study of marriage and family life from the perspectives of scripture, contemporary culture, and the behavioral sciences. Specific topics include: developmental influences on marriage and family preparation, marriage and family in the Old and New Testaments, Biblical principles for marital and family faithfulness, contemporary challenges to marriage and family life, and the ethical issues in marriage and family life.
